Today's Share - well, Wednesday's - October 5th, 2011

Posted: October 7th, 2011 @ 12:50pm

Dear CSA Members,

Yesterday's share should have included:

A large bunch of green onions,
One large or two small heads of celery
One bunch of collard greens
Two pounds of tomatillos

Farm shares received 3/4 pounds of french filet beans,
Vancouver shares received a half pint of tomatoes.

MESSY GREEN ONIONS.  The green onion are a bit of a mess.  Some of the "leaves" have mildewed.  If you remove these, there should be plenty of good green onion to use.  They were such a beautiful crop last week Jim didn't have the heart to pass them over and not give you the opportunity to make use of what is good.

GREEN SALSA
Hunters' Green Salsa

2-3 chiles of your choice
About 8 tomatillos
2 cloves garlic, or to taste
2-3 green onions
1/4 cup cilantro leaves
1/4 teaspoon salt

Remove husk of tomatillos and rinse waxy film off tomatillos.  Boil tomatillos until they take on a transluscent appearance.  Drain tomatillos.  Put tomatillos, chiles, garlic, green onions, cilantro and salt in a blender or food processor and blend to a puree.
