Here at Hunters' Greens we are just waking up...
 Posted: February 16th, 2010 @ 10:35pm

Hello,
Here at Hunters' Greens we are just waking up and blinking our eyes at the bright light after a couple of months of winter hibernation. Actually we're still a bit grumpy.
But alas it's time to shake off the the winter slumber and begin a new season of growing veggies. The garlic we planted in October is about six inches high and loving the bunny litter we mulched over it last fall. We didn't get the walla wallas started in September, but we snuck them under the grow lights in January, and they have sprouted and are out to the green house. Clifford the Big Red tractor got a fresh radiator full of anti-freeze for the big freeze and is ready to go back to work when we get some dry weather. At the moment we're diving into pruning. We're learning how to prune grapes for the first time, but after fourteen years we think we've got apples figured out.
And of course it's time to get the word out for the coming harvest season. Our shares are going up just $10 this year, to make a nice round $450. If you belong to the eighty-odd percent who are fully employed, we are accepting additional donations to help us extend the opportunity of our veggies to the teen-odd percent who aren't.
The details of the new season have been posted on Local Harvest, and will be going up on the huntersgreens.com website this week. If you're ready to sign up, you can download a brochure from the web site. If you need to wait a bit, just give us a heads up that you are planning to sign up. And even if you're planning to drop out this year, a word to let us know will help us plan our marketing efforts.
So... we'll eagerly await a call or e-mial. Talk to you soon.
